With all the technology that we have around the world, I find it highly frustrating that we are unable to stop the oil spill that is happening on our Gulf Shores... so much damage is taking place there with every second it takes someone to figure out how to stop it... and who knows how long that damage will affect that area long after it finally has been stopped?
Knowing that BP has to pay for damages doesn't make me feel any better as it certainly will not bring back the wildlife that has and will continue to perish as a direct result of this "accident".

I do agree. For such an advanced country, why did they not anticipate this issue. I did hear that they had back up plans, but they failed. So perhaps someone should have created additional back up plans!!! The damage that is being done will devaste everyone for years to come. Such a shame!

It is absolutely aweful what has happened! I don't think we will know the real consequences for a while - I'm sure it will be much greater than we think.

I actually live in the panhandle of Florida. It is so sad. We have the most amazing beaches and because of BP's reckless behavior we are going to lose them. The emergency shut off valve didn't work. In my opinion if they would have been doing inspections like they were suppose to that would have made a world of difference. After seeing the man from BP in press conferences and such, I really feel as if he could care less. It doesn't make me feel better that BP is paying either! It's my understanding that the coast card has the equipment for clean-up but that BP won't pay for the military to help.
WOW! Sorry! LOL

I would think BP would have no choice BUT to pay the military for helping... I hope what you have heard is wrong... I hope they are FORCED to pay for WHATEVER is needed to get it cleaned up NOW... Someone needs to punch the BP guy in the chops! :-)

I agree. They should go through all measures to undo what they have done. It's awful and depressing to see all that gummy oil junk all over the place. So sad to see all the wildlife affected and it is probably affecting more than we know .

I just heard on the news that the oil is spilling AGAIN!!!! Unbelievable! I am just stunned this can go on for so long without someone figuring out a way to permanently STOP it!
