Okay, now I know that I am outta it this week...I thought sure I wrote of QOTD yesterday... but it's not here... I think I got sidetracked. Anyhow, today I want to talk about blogging. I follow Stephanie Howell's blog semi-regularly (she's an amazing scrapbooker) and she also writes openly about her life... the good, the bad and the ugly. Because of this, she gets a negative comment and/or email from some people (which bother her greatly).
My question... have you written about things that have received comments that hurt you? How do you handle them if you have or do?

I've been lucky I guess, no one has ever been nasty to me. I'm not sure how I would handle it, I'm a pretty sensitive person. But, if you are going to put it all out there you have to accept both the bad and good responses. You can't please everyone. I also believe in the saying, if you don't have something nice to say...don't say it at all. I would never leave someone a mean/rude/nasty comment, not my style.

I have never received a nasty comment - and I would be pretty hurt, cause that just isn't what goes on in our little world here. Bad form, as the Brits say. However, I did see one once where a man, A MAN, left a remark with a bunch of Bible verses criticizing the fact someone chose to have a "pagan" celebration - I think she got together with her girlfriends to celebrate pink or maybe Pink. I really didn't know whether to leave a comment about it, or just let it go.
What do you all think - would you reply to it, and show your support for your fellow artist, or would you let the stupidity stand on its own ? (The blogger never did delete the comment, fyi)

I have not received any negative comments on the blog. I also try very hard to make my blog about me as a crafter and not the other aspects of my personal life. I describe who I am in the "About Me" section of the blog but that's it. No politics, religion or details about my family. I think I am personally more attracted to blogs that have a narrow focus and really don't get too personal (but that's just me). As for making negative comments on someone else's blog - NEVER. I agree with Kristina - if you don't have something nice to say just say nothing at all. The world has too many negative things going on to carry that attitude over into such a positive environment like a craft blog right?!

Luckily I have not received any negeative comments or feedback. If I ever did, I would probably do a little censorship and delete it because we are all here to have a good time and share some crafty projects. What's there to be negative about anyway? It's just a card or craft project! If you don't like it then move on, otherwise it's going to be along and lonely life if you nit pick everything you don't agree with. For me, I'd rather spent my time making people feel happy because it only reflects back on you.
What goes around comes around!

I have had a couple comments that I would consider rude but nothing nasty or criticizing. I say depending on how bad they are leave them up. So what one person out of however many viewers doesn't like something. I do agree with if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. I also agree that you can't please everyone. I say as long as what you are doing/saying/creating makes you happy then it doesn't matter what those select few think.

I haven't received any negative comments but then again I don't really write private things about my life. My blog is my scrapping blog and I try to keep personal things out of it. I don't agree with leaving bad comments, if you don't like what the blogger wrote don't read their blog.

As Liz mentioned, I keep my blog to scrappy/arty/inspiration type posts and keep my personal life out of it. I've never received nasty comments and would probably delete them if I did get them. The old blog is for fun and inspiration - no place for nastiness!

I think Stephanie deletes some of the negative comments though from what I can tell.

Thankfully I've never received any negative comments. It would probably crush me if I did. Like Kristina, I'm pretty sensitive too. Not that I think everyone should LOVE my work but I hate conflict of any kind. I definitely agree with the "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" philosophy. Also like many of you, I try to keep my personal life and opinions information totally out of my blogging.

I've never received any negative comments either. I do keep comment moderation on at all times just in case. That way I can read and "approve" comments first before they are posted. I've heard horror stories from other bloggers though.
