I read on Yahoo that men and women view Valentine's Day in a completely different way. One thing they said was that women DON'T want a "Hallmark" card (as in a purchased card that thousands of others will receive), and that women expect the guy to plan ahead for dinner.
Do you have any Valentine traditions ? Are you planning something this year, or do you expect your significant other to do that ? Did you make him a card ?

No traditions here - I always said "all I want is a card", but of course that never is the complete truth.
This year I decided to go ahead and plan the outing. We are going to a romantic dinner cooking class ! Expensive, but I figured it takes care of both the meal and a lovely and useful gift for my husband too. I have never planned anything for that day before, and as much as I would have loved him to think of it, he didn't. It didn't kill me to do it either.

No real traditions here but we usually go out to dinner. We're celebrating our anniversary late (Jan 20) and VDay early with a long weekend in Tahoe this weekend. I'm sooooo looking forward to it!!

We don't usually plan anything but last year was amazing. We went to the harbor for a nice walk and wanted some clam chowder at one of the restaurants. It was so crowded that they turned us away! The waitress felt so bad that she gave us two bowls of chowder to go and we walked to the liquor store for some wine and sat on the beach with our feet in the sand having a wonderful meal. It was PERFECT!
Something totally unplanned and we had the best time ever!

We don't do anything for Valentine's Day. Just another normal day, hehehehe.

No traditions. We usually exchange cards and then have something for the kids, but that's about it.

Our tradition is to pretend it's not happening ;D
Both my husband and I feel that it's just a commercial holiday. We make sure to show/tell each other every day how much we love each other.

A few years ago, John bought me these beatiful and VERY expensive orchids from the flower shop, then he put them in his truck and left them there all day while he worked (ummm, it's FEBRUARY IN MICHIGAN)... they froze to death and were dead before he got them home to me... I explained to him then that spending lots of money (especially if you are going to kill it!!)... is NOT romantic to me, it just stresses me out (I could have bought some nice papercraft stuff with the money he spent on flowers he killed... isn't that horrid that I feel that way??!!). At any rate, he trys to be romantic... me, not so much! :-) I can't even remember what or if we did anything last year, and we don't have anything planned for this year, at least I don't! ... I did make little gifts for the kids and him though (little pillow boxes with candy inside! :-)

We don't really do much. If we have a babysitter we will go out to dinner and sometimes we buy for eachother. It just depends on the year and what's going on. We always have something for the kids though.
