I often think of challenge sites as places where I "hang out". Sometimes you feel all warm and cozy there, sometimes the servers ignore you !
What sort of challenge site do you frequent ? Do you like the ones with hundreds of participants, European ones, all color challenges, a good DT , a message board or ??

I am definitely NOT a leader when it comes to the sites I frequent - I love to go where my friends go, just as if we all get together for coffee each day. Of course, that puts me in direct competition with my buddies, which I didn't think of until just now !!
I tend to go where design teams visit a lot, and offer really fun comments. I dislike "canned" responses, as I take comments seriously and will use those comments to better my work. And, just between us, if there are a lot of entries who use one particular stamp maker I don't like, I don't go back. (don't tell anyone I said that)

I will usually play along with challenges if I see the design team has done an amazing job with the sketch or color theme. This gets my creativity flowing and challenges me to create something just as nice as the design team. I don't tend to play along with challenges that have too many entries because I feel a little lost in the crowd.
But playing along next to my other design buddies or online friends is always fun. I love to give them comments and see what they come up with. Competition or not, it's always fun and exciting when you see one of your friends win a challenge or receive the honor of guest designing. I thinks thats so cool!

I echo most of what Jan stated. I don't get to play as many challenges as I used to but I'm kind of picky about where I play. I like the challenges where your work is judged not picked as a winner by the random number generator. The competition is what draws me because it challenges me to bust out my creativity. Response from the DT is MUCHO important too. Like Jan--no canned comments. I've actually made good bloggie friends with several design team members of challenges I've played in. The friendships are just an added bonus. I'm not drawn to any one particular kind of challenge. I will say color challenges are my LEAST favorite. Simple ones are okay but I usually wouldn't put whatever colors together that they pick. And Jan . . . it's friendly competition!

I have to agree with what has already been said. I did take part in more challenges in the past and have to day I didn't like the ones that had random winners. I generally like sketch challenges because these not only help with my mojo but also allow more freedom.

Ditto what everyone said. LOL I don't like color challenges that much. I love sketch challenges though. I love to play on challenge sites with upbeat DT members who like to have fun with their challenges.

I'm split on color vs sketch challenges and wouldn't say I have a favorite other than what I'm in the mood for that week. I've been having a lot of fun with "inspired by this photo" type stuff like the Christmas tree we had in December and some of the challenges on Moxie Fab.
I also like to play with the challenges of the stamp companies I love, too (WMS and Verve, mainly.) Because I have a ton of those stamp sets, I like to be inspired to use what I already have in different ways.

Looks like a lot of us think alike ;D I'm a sketch girl myself. I think it's crappy when a site doesn't acknowledge your participation and I don't care for the random winner thing either...just keepin it real!

I've had so much stuff going on lately that I haven't joined in a challenge in I can't even remember how long (unless you count ours here at PCS!)... my least favorite are color challenges (even tho I created some for PCS here, but only because other people seem to like them)... I love photo inspiration challenges and sketch challenges too... now if I can just find some time to participate some more! :-)

I don't do challenges much. I would love to but most of my scrappy time is spent creating for PCS, IBFS and people who have asked me or hired me to make something for them. I don't like the random winner as I like the motivation that being judged brings. I love sketch challenges and I am loving the photo inspiration challenges here at PCS!! They allow more freedom and I am able to get the scrapping I want to get done. I'm not much of a card girl.
