Hey Everyone out there!
What cameras are you using? Do you like/love/not recommend the camera that you have? Do you have a wish list?
I am researching new cameras for my Christmas gift... and wanted some opinions! Thanks for all your help!

I use a Canon EOS Xsi- and LOVE it! I had many cameras before, and I do think it depends on what you will be using it for!
I had a very nice point and shoot Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 which was perfect for what I was using it for. I used it for family things, and events as well as some basic photography of my kids. I have a large amount of really nice photos from that camera. It also had the programable functions and could shoot in b&w, sepia, etc where as my DSLR can't do that, but I have much more versatility in the camera itself.
I think it may help other people if you let them know which kind (point and shoot, or DSLR) you are looking to get. :-) If you are interested, I would love to give you more info about either camera, just PM me!

I just got my camera in April (yep, tax refund) I got the Canon Rebel T1i and I LOVE it. It was about $800 and the only thing I wish it came with was a zoom lens. We will have to buy one later, I'm thinking it will be around $200. This camera can do WAY more than my experience will comprehend but the pre-sets are great to work with. I think my favorite setting is the Landscape setting. I have found that I no longer enjoy using a flash and the landscape setting doesn't automatically pop up the flash.
Good luck with whatever camera you choose!!

I have the Nikon D80 and LOVE it. They don't make the D80 anymore but the comparable model is the D90.
If you're looking at getting a new camera I would highly recommend going to a store such as Best Buy and holding the cameras that you are looking at in your hands and seeing what feels comfortable to hold. Canon and Nikon are comparable cameras and options. Most of my friends said the deciding factor for them was the feel of the camera in their hand.
Now for me I've always been a Nikon girl and when I was looking at cameras I didn't want anything other than a Nikon.
Good luck with your choice!!!!

I think the next big decision, which will help you choose the camera type would be the price range.
My Canon came off cragislist. it was brand new in the box, someone bought it and it was just too much for them. I got it (brand new) the basic 18-55mm lens and a Sandisk Extreme III 8mb memory card, all for $650. I later purchased (or more, got for christmas) my Canon 55-250 lens and it cost me $299 (which took my breath away, but after having it for 8 months, it was SOOOO worth every penny).
But-- my previous camera, the Sony point and shoot, was over $400 new, from sony.

I use a Canon 10D that I adore! I'm still getting used to the settings for the (crappy) lighting we have in the dining room so spend more time than I'd like editing them. I got a lightbox a while ago but it is too big for the only free space I have for photos. Haven't sorted out a workaround yet. I really love the sensor in the Canon and the colors are so true to me.

I am struggling to search for a new camera myself. My Canon died and my husband's Fuji and I are just not compatible. The only problem is that I don't have the extra money to spend on a fancy DSLR right now. For the most part a point and click would take of my needs, except I am not sure how well it would take photos of my artwork for the blogs. Anyone have any thoughts on that? I always struggle with taking photos of my 12x12 layouts anyway.
