I read The Glass Castle and can't say I am a huge fan of it. I did hear a tonne of good reviews but I think I looked at the book too personally. I grew up with a very alcoholic mother so I think I looked at it more of I what I went through and compared and thought that her life was too bad.
But her mother really frustrated me. Sometimes I just really wanted to slap her.

The author of The Help is Kathryn Stockett. I will be curious to see how anyone else enjoys(ed) that one. Stephen King, well I still love his characters....
The Glass Castle, a difficult book for certain. I too found my mother in hers, although mine was not an alcoholic, just a denier.

So excited, I got a Kindle for Christmas !! Oh WOW! Congratulations Jan! What a GREAT gift... my youngest daughter wants either a Kindle or a Nook for her birthday in March... you'll have to tell me how you like it.. I've been comparing the two online and am leaning toward the Kindle.

My hub did a LOT of reviewing before he bought me the Kindle. I can say it downloads like butter, less than 5 seconds, and the screen is really matte so it is easy to read without any glare. It is not color, but then again, I don't read books in color, so it doesn't make one iota of difference. There are lots of free books, low cost books, and they all cost less than Costco, which is the cheapest book price I can find. The only one thing - I have been reading books for more than 55 years now, and it is really odd not to feel and smell a book, but not having to prop up those pages and turn them, wow. I may read a real book again, but I think I will do most of my reading from here on out on a Kindle. I really hope there will be some way our libraries can provide that service someday.
