I'm reading The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. I love her books! I am a huge historical fiction/romance fan. I break it up every once in awhile and through in some Dean Koontz.
What are you reading?

I'm about to start 'The Glass Castle' by Jeannette Wells. It's supposed to be very good. I'm reading it as part of a book club I am in.

"The Glass Castle" is one I have read twice, maybe even three times... I actually own it. It came as a recommendation by a friend. It is supposed to be a true story, but it is so horrific it is hard to believe everything. At least it was for me, especially since the author turned out to be well-educated, and well-to-do. I will be curious to see what you think of it, Liz ! It is a page turner!
I am rereading "Light a Penny Candle" by Maeve Binchey. She is far and away my favorite story teller. I hardly ever read fiction, mostly because she spoils me with her amazing (and flawed) characters. My favorite two people she has written about several times are the twins introduced in "Scarlet Feather." No two people like this have ever been written I don't think - they are the funniest and oddest pair EVER.
I would love to hear from any other Maeve fans !

I finished The White Queen and I can't wait for the 2nd book in the series The Red Queen to be released in paperback. (I'm too cheap to pay for hardbacks) I may even see if the library has a copy. I went to Borders today to get the book Liz is reading, but I forgot to write down the name of it. I tried calling you Jan to get it, but you didn't answer Anyway, I ended up buying The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I hope it's good, I've heard it is.

It was hard to imagine that there are children that are forced to grow up under those circumstances for sure!!

It sounds like I need to read 'The Glass Castle"... I don't have a lot of time to read and when I did... It was before bed and that was before I was married... Reading at night makes me sleepy... But, I am going to look into this book!

I agree Catherine, I may check that book out as well. I don't have much time for reading either. If I do it's usually before bed and by that time I am so pooped I just go to sleep! LOL

I liked it. It was cool hearing a different perspective of the same time period. Can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!

This week I just finished Stephen King's Under the Dome, which in large print is over 1300 pages and a bear to carry around. I need a suitcase for it. It was kind of typical King stuff, a little scary, some interesting characters. I don't know that I would really recommend it unless you are a King fan.
Also I am reading a nonfiction The Lost City of Z, which is about exploration on the Amazon around WW1. Very interesting, really a story about men who are obsessed with the unknown.
I also just finished The Help, which is a story about black maids and the white women they work for, in the south (USA) in the 60's. I would definitely recommend this - I didn't want the story to end, and wonder how their lives all turned out afterward ! READ THIS for certain.

I used to be a King fan and read stacks of his books. But haven't picked one up in ages.
The Help sounds like a great book. Who's the author?
